The Castro Cinema was opened by the Nesser brothers in 1922. The style was chosen as the one echoing Mexico City Cathedral, the interior is a mixture of Spanish, Italian and Eastern trends. It is one of several American theatres which is on operation beginning from 20-ies.
Castro was technically upgraded in 2001, but an old interior with carpets, chandeliers and heavy curtain remained the same. Today the cinema continues to operate, art-house and independent films are demonstrated here daily.
