Venice Square (Piazza Venezia)

It is one of the major squares of Rome with an interesting history, which is the central transport hub since the days of the Roman Republic. It features many highlights, including the Monument to Vittorio Emanuele II, the first king of Italy, the Palace of Venice, Palazzo Bonaparte, etc. The square dates back to 1567, though its current shape was created in 1885.
In 2009 during excavations, ancient remains of what has been identified as emperor Hadrian's Athenaeum were unearthed in the middle of the square.

Look around and find the traffic policeman. In 1960 he was a character of Il Vigile (Alberto Sordi) and il 2012 of To Rome With Love (Woody Allen). Hungry? Our restaurant is very close.

A great architectural location, but try to be here very early morning before the crowd starts!
