It was the first and largest stadium in ancient Rome and its later Empire, which was built before Christ. The first chariot races are believed to be held there, also, it was used for athletics and other events. The track measured 621 m in length and 118 m in breadth, the total number of seats was in the order of 150,000. The site is a city park today, which is surrounded by a number of stalls, shops, and small cafes.
