The Parc de la Villette is the largest park in the centre of Paris, over 50 hectares in area with 35 hectares of green area, located at the northeastern edge of the 19th arrondissement. The park was designed by Bernard Tschumi, a French architect, who built it in the eighties of the twentieth century. Today, the park is the centre of many cultural and social events.
Dividing the park is the Canal de l'Ourcq, which flows into the Canal Saint-Germain and the Seine down to the Île de la Cité.
The park houses museums, concert halls, live performance stages, and theatres, as well as playgrounds for children, and thirty-five architectural follies. These include La Géode, an IMAX theatre, Cité de la musique (City of Music), which is a museum of historical musical instruments with a 800 seat concert hall, also home of the Conservatoire de Paris, etc.
The Parc de la Villette has a collection of ten themed gardens, including "Jardin de Bambou" (Bamboo Garden) and Le Jardin du Dragon (The Garden of the Dragon), which is home to a 25-metre tall large sculptural steel dragon.
Also, French submarine Argonaute is exhibited there.
The Parc des Buttes-Chaumont and the Parc de la Villette are connected by the Darius Milhaud Alley. A river cruise takes visitors along the Canal Saint Martin to the central large square and the Bastille.

You won't go there on purpose unless you want to walk along the Canal Saint Martin or go the to Zenith concert hall. The park has several statues and many playgrounds. It is a very pleasant area. read full review

A great park with many things to do, ranging from exhibition centres, the Cite des Sciences museum, cinemas such as La Geode, the lovely Canal de l'Ourcq that runs through it and much more to find!
