The Champ de Mars is a large public greenspace in Paris, France, located in the seventh arrondissement, between the Eiffel Tower to the northwest and the École Militaire to the southeast, on the Southern bank of the River Seine, covering an area of over two dozen hectares. Originally, the Champ de Mars was part of a large flat open area called Grenelle, which was reserved for market gardening.
Louis XV signed the edict founding a military academy for young gentlemen without means on 13 January 1751. The Monument to Marshal Joffre, who defeated the Germans at the First Battle of the Marne, is situated near the Ecole Militaire of Champ de Mars. The park is named after the Campus Martius ("Mars Field") in Rome, a tribute to the Latin name of the Roman God of war. The name also alludes to the fact that the lawns here were formerly used as drilling and marching grounds by the French militar.
This place witnessed the spectacle and pageantry of some of the most well-remembered festivals of the French Revolution. The place was also the site of the first 'aerostat' tests in 1783 as well as hosting the exhibition of industrial produce in 1798. In the 80th of the eighteenth century the Park was opened to public. Starting in 1780, horse races were held here, and this continued up to the creation of the Longchamp racecourse in 1857. The Champs-de-Mars also hosted parts of the Universal Exhibitions of the 19th century (1867, 1878, 1889 and 1900).

Great place for a picnic, people watching, and an epic view of the Eiffel Tower. Nice to stroll along and watch the many people playing soccer, sitting enjoying the sun or walking or running.

Eiffel Kulesi bu parktan harika fotoğraflanıyor, kuleyi parmaklarınız arasında tutabileceğiniz klasik kareler çekilmek için ideal. ;)

A great place to explore and relax with many benches, open areas and secluded areas, perfect for a picnic or to see the Eiffel Tower, Ecole Militaire or the Wall or Peace which are at both ends.
