The new York public library

At the end of 19th century after association of collections of three large New York book collection the government had a need to build the new building of public library.
The monumental building of white marble, decorated with symbolic sculptures and statues of lions, was completed in 1911. The interior of the building is designed in the same grandiose style with heavy chandeliers, sculptures and paintings on the ceiling.
Today, the public library is working in its usual mode, and as a repository of priceless literary texts and documents. For example, it stores a copy of the Declaration of Independence of the United States.
