The Istanbul archaeological Museum (Istanbul Arkeoloji Müzeleri)

The complex is located near gülhane Park and topkapı Palace and consists of three museums — the main building of the Ancient Orient Museum and the Tiled pavilion and contains over one million objects from different eras. Founded in the late nineteenth century on the initiative of a prominent Turkish painter and archeologist Osman Hamdi Bey. Is now one of the largest museums in the world.

The museum was being renovated so certain sections were off limits, but I still felt like it was an extensive collection and I got to see heaps. Make sure to visit all the different buildings to see... read full review

Am a museum freak....but this was disappointing. Had wanted to see the museum in full but some sections were still in renovations which to me, it felt like such a rip-off to charge the full entrance... read full review
