one of the earliest surviving Church in Constantinople dedicated to the "Holy peace" (and not Saint Irene). The Church is located in the historical centre of Istanbul in the Sultanahmet district in the first court of Topkapi Palace. Ayia Irene is new to the VI century a Basilica in the shape of a cross. The vestibule of the Church is paved with mosaics of the time of Justinian. Inside is a sarcophagus, in which, according to legend, the remains of Constantine.

The interior has nothing much left but it's a famous building so worth 5 mins. If you buy the 3 day pass there you can skip the queues in Sofia, so it was worth it for me. read full review
